The State Meteorological Agency (AEMET) is a Spanish State Agency based in Madrid, whose main objective is to provide weather services and weather forecasting by municipalities.
It was founded on August 12, 1887 and has as its main organization the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food.
It is created by Royal Decree 186/2008 of February 8, 2008, to replace its predecessor National Institute of Meteorology.
